Interesting, that from the burning bush,

I Am Who I Am does not describe Himself

as the great and only God,

He does not say, I am the Creator of all the universe.

He does not name Himself,

the maker of fire and rain,

the God who rained upon Sodoma and Gomorrah,

or the One who stood with three men in the furnace.

And he said,

“I am the God of your father,

the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”

“This is weird, a voice from a bush,

flames that do not burn,

but it’s ok.

It’s new to me, but it’s the same voice that told Grandpa Abraham

to pack up his bags

and travel to I-will-tell-you-where-later.”

Veronica and I want to leave the legacy to our descendants,

not only that they know He is our God,

but they will know to hear and respond to His voice,

be it from the bush, or the Book,

or a whisper from under the Spirit’s breath.
