Honey

God seems to have a thing for honey.

He took the children of Israel into a land flowing with milk and honey.

He mentions honey quite a bit in His book.

Samson ate honey from the carcass of a lion.

Jonathan got strengthened with a couple of ounces of honey.

John ate it, perhaps with his grasshoppers, to give them some sweetness. (Can you blame him!)

On the other hand, God is very specific about honey never being included in anything burnt on His altar.

…. for you shall burn no leaven nor any honey as a food offering to the Lord..

Lev 2.11

Yet it could be included in firstfruit offerings.

As an offering of firstfruits you may bring [leaven and honey] to the Lord.

Lev 2.12

I find that interesting.

There is a honey from the Rock, that satisfies:

…with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.

Psalm 81.16

Actually, that honey is sweeter yet than what Samson, Jonathan, or John the Baptizer ate.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Ps 119.103

More than sweet, more than satisfying, it is eternal revelation.

The plan of God on the pages of a book.

Forever.
