He speaks well, but little

Aaron seemed to be the man God had in mind to step up to the plate

when someone needed to do the talking.

Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well.

Ex 4.14b

Aaron did make the opening speech to the slaves,

relaying the escape plan God had for all of them.

Then the brothers went to Pharoah,

and it is unclear who did most of the talking:

Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel,

‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’”

Ex 5.1

But then when things got awful (6.9) it was Moses who tried to calm the Israelites down.

The brothers went back to the king and Aaron did the talking. (7.2)

But for bloody plague #1, Moses was the spokesman. (7.16)

For plague #2, a land full of of croaking frogs,

it was Moses doing the confronting again. (8.1-2)

It’s unclear if anyone did the talking before gnaty plague #3 hit the scene.

But for #4—flies all over the place—it was Moses all Moses again.. (8.6)

And that is generally how it went.

The prophet did not do most of the talking.

So what did he do?
