Christ born

We would have every reason to believe Jesus was born in the year Zero, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. They tell us it was more likely about 5 years before that.

No, it wasn’t a premature delivery. It was a goof made by Cal Ender, who wasn’t as good with math as one would have hoped.

Most likely it was a spring birth. There was the manger (Lu 2.7), that’s the feeding trough for the animals, but we made up the part about the stable. The three travelers from the East were not necessarily three (Mt 2.1), and they did not make it to the trough, but rather to a house (Mt 2.11), probably in Nazareth.

But all that aside, the fact is that Jesus was born

He left the splendor of heaven, for the sinners of earth. He hung out with truly holy beings, and changed all that to live amongst wholly contaminated humans. (Phil 2.7).

Who’da thunk it!

And then He chose the cross.

He died so that we could be reborn. And with our rebirth He took up residence within us (Col 1.27)—so very much cooler than any stable.

I mean, wow.

And then, He gave us work to do.
