1 Peter 5.10a


“A little while?” You can’t fool me!


That’s the ESV, which is what I usually read. But I think King Jimmy is closer to reality when he says:

after that ye have suffered a while…

It’s no small thing that Jim removed “little.”

 

But remember Whom we are talking about here, the God who sees “a thousand years as one day.”

 

So, the ever-faithful MSV may be more on on point when it says

After you have suffered for what will seem like way too long of a time…

Maybe so.


But it doesn't actually matter. Because then comes the other side of the coin, in 1 Peter 5.10, in any version you read:

...the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself: - restore, - confirm, - strengthen, and - establish you
