A little suffering can be a very good thing

We’ve been “thinking” on 1 P 4.1a, today we add part “b.”

 

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin…

 

As I read it, Jesus is telling us that physical suffering makes the inner person stronger.

“He who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.”

 

The writer of Hebrews tells us in 12.4,

“In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.”

“Struggle against sin… shedding your blood…”

 

That’s poignant.

I will muse silently on it.
