Two "You Are's"

Continuing in Matthew five…

Jesus says nine “Blessed Ares” that briefly describe:

1. how people are who are open to God,

2. how people take hold of the righteousness that comes by faith, and

3. how people are as they begin to look like Jesus,

He then uses one down-to-earth example and one enlightening explanation, which I will call the two “You Ares”:

• You are the salt of the earth

• You are the light of the world

Makes me wonder if there are distinct connotations between “of the earth” and “of the world.”

A minor point, perhaps. Then again, there seems to be something rich there that my spirit yearns to grasp.
