God got out his compass when He explained the sacrifices to Moses.

A burnt offering of sheep or goats is to be slain on the north side of the altar.

 

…he shall kill it on the north side of the altar before the LORD

Lev 1.11

 

 

The burnt offering of birds necessitates chopping off the “crop” (head feathers according to me),

and casting it on the east side of the altar.

 

He shall remove its crop with its contents and cast it beside the altar on the east side,

Lev 1.16

 

 

I am sure there is an explanation for this, I just don’t know what it is.

 

The truth is, I like not understanding things in the Bible, because it makes me dig.

 

It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.
