Paul had never been to Colossae, but he had seen the church’s website, and was excited about the believers there. In bits and pieces pulled from Col 1.3-4, he remarks:

We always thank God… since we heard of your faith… and love...

Reading the verses a little more in full:

We always thank God… since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love that you have for all the saints 

Faith in Christ is how we get into the family.

Love the saints is what we do once we are in.
