Asked why he was willing to let Abimelech have sex with Sarah, Abraham answered,

because I thought,

‘There is no fear of God at all in this place,

and they will kill me because of my wife.’

Gen 20.11

Ok, so Abe does not get the hero-of-the-day award.

But neither does he take home a trophy for being smart.

¿No fear of God?

Does God need that people to have “the fear of God” in order to fear him?

King Abimelech woke up with night sweats, pleading for his life,

because God scared him out of his wits with a word from God in a dream.

We would do good to not underestimate God’s ability

to deal with people who need to be dealt with.

So, keep praying for your unsaved spouse.

Keep asking for your alcoholic son.

Keep believing for your promiscuous daughter.

Believe for a miracle for your mother with cancer.
