Paul wanted the young church at Colossae to know

that there are smooth talkers out there

who have very logical, and enticing points of view.

 

“Watch out for those guys!”, Paul tells his friends.

 

I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. 

Col 2.4

 

Just pretend I am sitting there with you

at that same conversation,

give me the joy of seeing you stick to your guns

on the things you have learned from me.

The Word, what a wonder it is.

 

And we are reminded to keep our hats on:

[Put on] he helmet of salvation

Eph 5.17

 

Because

the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh

but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion

raised against the knowledge of God,

and take every thought captive to obey Christ, 

 

 

The Word.

Full of truth and power.

Live-changing.

Worthy of basing one’s whole life on its veracities.
