We can see, in his first epistle, that Peter is a true disciple of John Calvin.

In 1.1 he was writing to the ELECT.

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect…

In 2.8 those who stumbled on the cornerstone, did so because they were destined stumblers.

The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone... 

and

A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.

They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were DESTINED to do. [2.7-8]

 

And me, in 2.9, I am chosen:

But you are a CHOSEN race…

I don’t grasp all the particulars of it but--because I find it in the Word--I embrace it.


I guess I am a destined embracer.
