Peter tells us of God’s great mercy.

One of my pastor buddies defines grace as ,“Getting what you don’t deserve.”

That’s in contrast to mercy, which is not getting what you do deserve.

It took me a bit to wrap my big head and little brain around that, but I think I got it.

Pete informs us, in 1 Peter 1.3b, that:

According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again…

I appreciate that Peter picks up on the born-again concept. It’s clear, it’s strong, and it’s widely underused nowadays.

He continues to tell us that God did this,"according to His great mercy.”

Yep, I did not deserve to get born again.

But I am.

Mercy me!
