Freely received

As a kid, I was the neighborhood salesman. Neigbors saw me approaching their door and they got out their wallets.

I sold Christmas cards, I sold chocolate candies, I sold anything that could make a buck. Not that they needed the chocolates, it was just that Markie was such a cutie (some things never change!).

Today I am in Mt 10.8b:

Freely ye have received, freely give.

The man who lead me to Christ—Juan Sandoval, director of Rose Park Orphanage—

shared this verse with me 48-ish years ago. Today, Good Friday, I celebrate 49 years as a follower of Jesus. Juan taught me that we could never sell anything that we received freely.

Consequently, I am a terrible seller. Since I live by faith, I consider everything I have, as having received freely. So, the application of that verse has made me a poor seller.

But it has made me a generous giver.

Freely we have received!

Oh, how incomprehensible the gift of grace!
