Ego in check

John the Baptist’s disciples were faithful to their man in camel hair. And they were concerned that Jesus was stealing John’s sheep.

People seemed to be leaving John’s church on the river and heading over to Jesus’.

Maybe they had nicer music, or a better kids program over there with Jesus. Or, probably, better refreshments—bread and fish—, instead of grasshoppers.

His disciples explained to John:

“Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing... and all are going to him.”

Seems like (at least in the MSV Bible) that John did an ear-to-ear grin and exclaimed out,

“Yeah! Isn’t that great? I love it!”

Eating grasshoppers seems to really keep a man’s ego in check!
