Jesus spoke it straight out in John 5.17...

“My father is working until now, and I am working.”

That was a chilling screeching scrape of chalk on the blackboard for the hearers.

John 5:18 tells us,

The Jews tried to kill him…
because he was calling God his own father, making himself equal with God.

It’s not nice to want to kill people, but I have to give the Jews credit where credit is due.

At least they caught on to the fact that if Jesus is God’s son, that means he is equal to God.

A whole lot of people—who claim to be on board—don’t catch that.
