Dead and buried.

having been buried with him in baptism,

in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God,

who raised him from the dead.

Col 2.12

First a person gets dead to the sin that had him previously dead,

and then the person shows his delight in this new death,

by getting buried in water.

It’s paradoxical that God uses water to symbolize dirt,

it sure can make things muddy to comprehend.

Dead fish and octopuses

(some say “octopi,” but a person could get confused

and think we are talking about octopus pie!)

get buried in water, but people usually don’t.

Nevertheless the amazing part

of this dozenth verse of chapter two

is this:

We have been raised with Jesus BY FAITH.

Oh, yeah, I’ll take it.
