A new doctrine?

Let's not skip over the fact that I was sanctified by the Spirit for obedience, or unto obedience, according to King Jimmy in 1 Peter 1.2:

…in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ…

Hey, I thought I was sanctified so I could go to heaven,

or could have Jesus in my heart,

or be happy,

or prosperous, even.

Is this some new doctrine that I’m s'posed to be obedient?
