A book about holiness

Exodus told us a lot about how to construct the tabernacle.

Leviticus tells us about keeping it—and us—clean and holy.

It is a book about holiness.

Certainly, the variety of sacrifices lead us to Christ,

the atonement, forgiveness, life eternal He gives us.

He makes us holy.

He wants us holy.

Lev 11.44

For I am the LORD your God.

Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.

Lev 19.2

Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them,

you shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy

Lev 20.26

You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy

and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.

Lev 21.8

I, the LORD, who sanctify you, am holy.

And just so we do not think that it is but an Old Testament idea,

Peter reconfirms it in his epistle.

I Peter 1.15-16

…as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,

since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.
